Emulator

Emulator is a substitute of another computer or software in that it can execute applications or programs that are meant for another and different system. For instance, emulators will allow a user to have Windows on Mac or Mac on Windows.

The technique known as computer emulation was first started by IBM both in hardware and software that would enable applications developed in earlier models to be run on newer ones. This innovation also had backward compatibility and this was a requirement that did not warrant application developers to redesign them for a new model of computer. They could instead concentrate on developing completely new applications because they well understood that earlier software would continue to run on the newest platforms.

At the same time, in its simplest form, an emulator is also familiar to gamers. Video game emulators fad was another thing that surfaced in the 1990s such that it enabled users to play console games on current computers.

As the field of technology advances more and more, emulators that can launch the iOS or Android systems on PCs are only more crucial as long as smart phones and tablets remain the hot ticket item.
