CRT

Idealogic’s Glossary

CRT is a vacuum tube that is often associated with several electron guns which are to be used in emitting electron beams with the purpose of producing pictures on a screen. This technology was used commonly in many displays for example in analog television sets and in the earliest computers.

The first cathode-ray tube was launched in 1922 and was in the process of progressive development and refining throughout the years. However, with the invention of new technologies in the display units, CRTs are no longer popular and the last manufacturing company, Videocon stopped production in 2015.
