Digital

Idealogic’s Glossary

Digital means processed and stored in a digital signal which is a series of numbers usually ‘1’ and ‘0’ that denote presence or absence of signal. Just as numerals combine to form the numbers required for counting; these numerical entities referred to as bits come together to form letters, images, audio and other forms of information.

Discrete data which is different from analog data is composed of samples where specific information is held in each of the samples. Today therefore the term digital means anything that is electronic such as computers, media, internet and digital music players.
