Cursor

Idealogic’s Glossary

Cursor is a device that shows a pointer which indicates the current position or location in interface or data. The cursors come in different forms or shapes, and this may be influenced by movement or switching or through some commands that cause the cursor to depict its shape depending on the function it is to perform. In other words, a cursor reveals the position in a document or on a page where the mouse or other input device can operate, for instance on items, lines or characters.

Cursors are very important in the sense that they assist users in selecting, altering and managing data. They are very useful when it comes to help the users to navigate especially when working with large data sets, provide interaction and enhance the interactive aspects of software applications or systems.
